CORTNEY DENNIS
Safety Director
Cortney Dennis has been serving in ministry at New Life Christian Center since 2020 and currently facilitates the Root to Rise Mothers fellowship. She is zealous about ministering to mothers and building each other up through community. R2R is all about moms doing life together, sharing and glorifying God in the mundane. It has been incredible to watch this ministry grow and thrive. Glory to God!
Cortney loves to study Apologetics and believes that everyone should be equipped with the Word of God and the understanding of how to defend their faith. She loves to talk about Jesus and how He can and will transform lives. Her favorite book in the Bible is Genesis because it is the foundation of our Christian worldview.
She was born and raised in Alaska, completed her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Social Science with a minor in Sociology at Cumberland University, and went on to complete her Master's in National Security with a concentration in Terrorism from American Public University. She moved to Idaho in 2002 and worked in various capacities in public safety for two decades. Cortney married her wonderful (and patient) husband Leon in 2007, and they have two children. When the Lord changed her heart, she downsized her full-time career in public safety for the most challenging and rewarding job she has ever had as a full-time ministry as a homeschooling mother. God is good!
Their family lives on a working farm, runs a licensed raw goat milk dairy, and breeds and trains pack goats. Cortney is active in her children’s 4H Club and serves as the 4H poultry and pack goat leader for the club. The family attends and shows goats at various local and state ADGA shows. The family can spend countless hours talking about all things poultry or goat.
She is enthusiastic about homeschooling and encourages families who are on their homeschooling journey. Cortney holds her Idaho Education teaching credential for K-8 through the State Board of Education and works part-time as a K-6 General Education teacher remotely and instructs at her children’s local co-op.
Cortney is an avid reader; the fast track to her heart is a good Christian book recommendation. She has been active in the New Life Christian Center Ministry Institute since 2020. She considers herself a lifelong learner and is always looking for ways to deepen her understanding of scripture.
She writes a devotional blog and Christian content and also co-creates a public safety blog. Cortney mentors ladies on how to obtain and maintain sobriety and treasures watching Jesus break the chains of addiction and transform lives. Occasionally, she teaches women's self-defense classes and is passionate about ensuring the safety and security of individuals and groups. The entire family trains Brazilian jiu-jitsu and the kids are involved in various extracurricular activities. The family loves to be in nature, relishing God’s creation through hiking, fishing, hunting, and exploring.
We are immensely grateful for the goodness of God and how He has moved and continues to move in our lives
